Dr. Amy Johnson
Owner, Veterinarian drjohnson@jpanimalclinic.com DVM - North Carolina State University. BS, Animal Science - Cornell University.
After graduating from veterinary school Dr. Johnson worked in both private practice and shelter medicine, first in New York, then in Massachusetts. She opened Jamaica Plain Animal Clinic in 2006, after having lived in Jamaica Plain for several years, in order to provide personalized, high quality medical care to JP's pet population. She has special interests in behavior, pain management, preventive medicine and senior care. Dr. Johnson now commutes to JP Animal Clinic so that she can share her home with 2 horses, 9 chickens, and 2 cats. This diverse menagerie continuously teaches and inspires her.

Dr. Isaac Maxmen
Associate Veterinarian VMD - University of Pennsylvania. MPH, Infectious Diseases - UC Berkley BS, Animal Science - Univ. of Massachusetts Amherst.
Born and raised in western Massachusetts, Dr. Maxmen grew up within a true animal setting, having both parents being veterinarians themselves. Dr. Maxmen has practiced in many specialty clinics, emergency clinics, and general practice facilities for dogs and cats, having spent the last eight years living and working in the San Francisco area. He has even fulfilled the coursework of a PhD in Epidemiology at the UC Davis Veterinary School.

Dr. Beth Marks
Associate Veterinarian DVM - The Ohio State University. BS, Biology & Chemistry - Simmons College.
Born and raised in the Boston area, Dr. Marks always wanted to be a veterinarian. After finishing her undergraduate degree at Simmons College, she pursued her dream to become a veterinarian at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following veterinary school, she pursued a 1 year rotating surgery and medicine internship at Oregon State University. Since returning to the Boston area, she has worked locally as an associate vet and enjoys spending her time outside of work with her cat, Muzzy, gardening and traveling.

Joyce Caranci

Joyce has more than 10 years of experience in animal shelter operations. While she misses working in shelters, she is enjoying the change of pace, and still fosters for the most recent shelter she managed. Joyce shares her home with her dog Penny and four cats with big personalities. She recently rescued her horse, Sugar, and is looking forward to building a new animal bond.

Andrea Ruplis
Veterinary Technician
Andrea has been with JP Animal Clinic since 2010. Her skills as a veterinary technician, along with her ability to gain the confidence of even the most nervous of patients make her a vital part of our team. She can be found helping everything run smoothly during appointments on Saturdays. Andrea shares her home with her family and several rescued pets and fosters.

Jessica O'Day
Veterinary Technician
Jess has over 4 years experience as a veterinary technician. She began caring for animals and developing her skills while volunteering at the MSPCA, and quickly went on to pursue a career in the field. Jess assists during surgeries, helps our veterinarians with appointments and provides excellent care for all of our patients. She has a feisty cat of her own named Mario.

Sean Fulton
Veterinary Technician
Sean has worked in the animal care field since 2011, with experience as a veterinary technician since 2012. He enjoys building rapport with clients and helping patients feel at ease while at the clinic. In addition to providing treatments and assisting our veterinarians, Sean can often be found helping at the front desk.

Dawn has nearly 10 years experience in small animal medicine. She loves all critters, especially her rescue dog, Hunter. In her spare time, Dawn loves hiking, playing ball with Hunter, and reading.

Sarah Jablonski
Veterinary Technician
Sara has been working in various animal fields since college. Currently working part-time here at JPAC, and full-time at the Franklin Park Zoo, where she trains with the resident ringtailed lemurs. While she especially loves exotic animals, nothing can compare to caring for cats and dogs with us! Having no pets of her own, Sara also fills her need for cuddling by petsitting for many families in the JP area, many of whom are JPAC clients.

Jalexis' hobbies include web- & graphic design, gardening, history, cooking and cuddling her lab mix, George, and leopard gecko, Hashtag. Having a love for animals and design Jalexis took on our website redesign project!
